PHILADELPHIA, PA – Police say a teenage girl was stabbed more than 80 times before being set on fire by a man she met on Facebook.

The body of 15-year-old Sabriya McLean was found behind an apartment complex in the 200 block of South 49th Street late Tuesday morning after meeting 23-year-old Cole Swaringer-Herring the previous evening.

According to WPVI, McLean traveled to Philadelphia from her home in Delaware on Monday to meet the Herring, whom she had been corresponding with on Facebook. Her parents reported her missing that same day.

Investigators say that when McLean met up with Herring Monday night, things must have went South for the teen very quickly.

Sources say Swaringer-Herring’s parents were both out at the time of the murder, but when they returned home their stabby spawn confessed to them what he’d done.

Herring’s parents notified the police the following morning. No explanation was given as to the delay in contacting authorities, but you have to wonder how well they slept that night with a dead girl out back and Sir Sticks-A-Lot in the next room.

Swaringer-Herring was arrested at the scene after McLean’s body was found under a pile of leaves by responding officers. Given the nature of the crime, investigators are looking into whether Herring may not be new to murder.

“It was a very violent act so we’re looking at him in connection to some other possible cases that we’ve had,” said Capt. Jack Ryan.

The medical examiner did not reveal if McLean had been sexually assaulted, but they did take several hours to identify the body.

Swaringer-Herring has been charged with murder, arson, abuse of a corpse and related offenses. He’s being held without bond with a preliminary hearing scheduled for December 20th. No motive has been given for the slaying.
