Flossmoor, IL – A 15-year-old boy has been charged with stabbing his older brother to death because of his alleged bullying.
Police were at the family’s home just before 1 a.m. Friday on a domestic violence call. Inside the home they found 25-year-old Steven Tigue (pictured) suffering from multiple stab wounds inflicted by his brother, 15-year-old Michael Tigue.
The boy’s mother told police she woke up to the two brothers fighting and broke up the fight. She then told Michael to call 911 for his brother. Steven Tigue was taken to the hospital where he would die a short time later.
Police questioned Michael who would admit that he’d planned the attack on his brother because of past bullying. He reportedly waited for his brother in a bedroom and began beating him with a golf club when he got home. When his older brother was able to take the golf club away from him, Michael pulled out a steak knife and repeatedly stabbed his brother in the chest.
Michael Tigue was arrested and charged as an adult with first degree murder and ordered held on $2 million bond. Steven Tigue’s death marks Flossmoor’s first reported homicide case in more than 30 years.
I feel bad for the mother losing both of her sons during the holidays. I’m not sure how I’d react if I lost my sons this way. On one hand, there’d be no more fighting, car insurance would be cheaper, attitude problems would vanish as would the mooching of my food and money, and I’d have a quiet Christmas day off enjoying the Amazon credits received from returning gifts.
But on the other, who am I gonna make take out the trash and walk the dog? That’s the shit that keeps me up at night.
