LOS ANGELES, CA – Three boys were found stabbed to death inside an SUV parked near an elementary school, and a man believed to be their father was taken to the hospital suffering from critical stab wounds.
A man walking near Dolores Huerta Elementary School called police after he noticed man in the front seat of the vehicle covered in blood.
When he got closer, he also saw a young boy covered in blood who was motionless and had his eyes open. He then noticed at least one other body in the back seat along with a box cutter.
Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck said they found three boys inside the vehicle, ranging from 8 to 12 years old. Two of them were pronounced dead at the scene while the third child died later.
He also said they have a suspect in custody, but would not confirm if the suspect was the man taken to the hospital with stab wounds.
“We believe him to be the father of the kids, but we do not know that for a fact,” Beck said. “The biological mother of the children we believe to be deceased. We believe there is a stepmother and she is safe.”
Other reports state the man is the boys’ biological father and that he is currently in critical condition after stabbing himself in the chest.
