LOS ANGELES, CA – Police are looking for Andre Bauth, an Emmy award-winning producer, accused of stabbing an actor in the chest during an argument.
According to the victim, 23-year-old Clayton Haymes, Bauth is his landlord and manager. He says that after returning home from dinner and drinks with his roommates Tuesday morning, Bauth got a little angry when they laughed at Bauth stating he would one day win five Oscars.
“When he said ‘five Oscars,’ we all just kinda laughed a little bit, and he got really upset,” Haymes said.
Which, if Haymes is to be believed, is an understatement. Bauth allegedly grabbed a knife and chased Haymes into a room where he stabbed him in the chest then left the house. Bauth, who won a daytime Emmy as a producer for the television series The Bay, has not been seen since.
Haymes was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a punctured lung. “I was terrified for my life. I’m just happy to be alive,” he said. “I just don’t understand why he would want to do this to me ‘cause we’re friends.”
Both Haymes and Bauth appeared in “El Landlord,” a film Bauth also produced. Coincidentally, or an argument for life imitates art, the film is about an illegal immigrant pursuing his dreams in Hollywood who kills some of the tenants he rents to. It looks horrible.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed an attempted murder charge against Bauth and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone who knows where he may be is asked to call the LAPD’s North Hollywood division.
