HOUSTON, TX – Police have arrested 38-year-old Reinaldo Rivera after he stabbed his roommate to death for taking the last piece of fried chicken.
According to reports, Rivera and four other men were drinking and fixing fried chicken inside an apartment at the Lakeside Estates when 34-year-old Darwin Gonzalez took the the last piece of chicken, a drumstick.
Rivera was not at all happy about this, and the two men began arguing over Gonzalez’ faux pas. This argument spilled out into the apartment parking lot where the two traded blows.
The fight ended when Rivera stabbed Gonzalez once with a steak knife before fleeing the scene. Police would arrive on the scene to find Gonzalez dead in the parking lot.
Rivera was arrested after returning to the scene and admitting to police that he’d stabbed Gonzalez. He’s now behind bars facing a murder charge.
“There was a single drumstick in the pan,” according to HPD Homicide Detective Fil Waters. “You can’t script this stuff. It’s someone getting killed over a piece of chicken. Pretty tragic.”
