CHICAGO, IL – Not a lot of details on this yet, but Chicago police say six people, including a child, were found murdered in a home Thursday afternoon. I am sure some of the following details will change as more information is released.
Police discovered the bodies after being called to the home to perform a well-being check after a co-worker of one of the victim’s called to report they had not been at work for the last two days.
When police arrived, they could see a body from outside of the home and made entry. Once inside, they found five more bodies. The identities of the victims have not been released, but police said the victims were four men, one woman and a 12-year-old child.
According to reports, some of the victims had been stabbed to death, while others were fatally shot.
One neighbor said the family that lives at the home had been there for at least three years and included a woman with two sons, who were grade-school age; and her parents. The woman was estranged from her husband, according to the neighbor, and he had since gone home to Mexico.
However, the following vide states the family that lived in the home was a couple, their daughter, the woman’s two sons, and the woman’s brother. But like I stated before, this is just being reported on so the initial information is bound to change as the investigation continues.
Interim Police Supt. John Escalante told reporters they were stepping up patrols in the area, but that they do not believe there is any threat threat to the surrounding community or immediate neighborhood.
“This is very early, very preliminary…but there are signs of trauma [to] the bodies. … We are still working to identify the bodies that were inside the residence,” Escalante said. “We are taking our time going through the residence so as to collect as much evidence as possible. Crime lab personnel are at the scene right now.”
