Kali BookeyMADISON, WI – Police have charged a 14-year-old girl with attempted murder after she tried to kill her brother’s girlfriend by slitting her throat and telling her she was a psychopath looking for her first kill.

According to investigators, Kali Bookey called police Wednesday morning to report that two men in a pickup truck had tried to abduct her while she was riding her bike. She claimed she talked the men into abducting her brother’s 15-year-old girlfriend instead since she was home alone.

When police arrived at the girlfriend’s trailer, they found her bleeding profusely in her bedroom and she was rushed to the hospital. There she would tell investigators that it was Bookey who had attacked her.

She said she was asleep when Bookey woke her up and put her hands over her mouth. The two got into a struggle and Bookey punched the girl multiple times in the face and broke two bowls over her head. She said Bookey used a shard from one of the broken bowls to slit her throat at least four times.

Bookey told the girl she had been biking 11 miles to her trailer and noting the times when her mother left her at the trailer alone. Bookey allegedly told the girl she was a psychopath looking for her first kill. She then asked the girl if she would rather die now or bleed out.

The girl opted to bleed to death so Bookey left, telling the girl to “have a nice afterlife” as she was leaving.

Bookey was then picked up by police and she admitted she made up the story about the abductors. She said she hated the girl because she made her brother happier than she could and decided to scare her so she and her mother would move away and her brother would “come back to the family.”

Bookey has been charged as an adult with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. She is being held without bail in the Northwest Regional Juvenile Detention Center pending a preliminary hearing on Aug. 8. If convicted, she is looking at a possible 40 years in prison.

A GoFundme account has been created for the victim. It was created by a friend of the family’s and has raised almost $2000. For the squeamish, be warned – the page contains a picture of the victim in the hospital.
