ENGLAND – A British man proving his “stab-proof vest” was indeed stab proof. died after stabbing himself.
Just five days after 22-year-old Jordan Easton’s birthday, he was with friends inside a home showing off a vest he was wearing.
According to Easton, the vest was stab proof and he decided to give a demonstration.
“While in the kitchen, he took hold a knife to demonstrate it was stab-proof and sadly realized it wasn’t the case,” said assistant coroner Karin Welsh.
After successfully stabbing himself in the chest, Easton was rushed to the hospital.
“Despite the best efforts of the medical professionals, they were unable to save him,” said Welsh.
Easton’s death was ruled a “misadventure” by Welsh, who chalked it up to the “foolishness of youth.”
Police investigated the incident but after interviewing family and witnesses, no charges were filed.
Easton’s sister is still having a hard time believing her brother accidentally killed himself.
“It’s more possible if it was bravado, showing off in front of lads, but where a mother and a young girl were, it’s out of character for him. I can’t absorb it,” she said.
