PHOENIX , AZ – Looks like God is up to his old shenanigans after he allegedly instructed a man to stab his mother to death.
Authorities say 38-year-old Joseph Cecil attacked his mother, 65-year-old Ronna Thomas, with a knife inside her home. He then chased his 63-year-old aunt out of the house and attacked her in the yard. He only stopped his attack because a neighbor came to the woman’s defense and whacked Cecil with a shovel.
When police arrived, they found Cecil on the ground with the neighbor standing over him with the shovel, and his bloody aunt lying in the front yard. Inside the home they found Thomas suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
Police said that had the neighbor not intervened with his trusty shovel, they have no doubt Cecil would have claimed two lives. When detectives asked Cecil why he attacked his mother and her sister, he told them that God had told him to.
One of these days God may end up telling someone to cut their neighbor’s grass, or to become an integral part of society, but seems he still suffers from a bit of blood-lust. Not as bad as when he used to command people commit complete genocide, but still. I guess we should feel lucky he’s just having people off their family members.
Cecil was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault. Police are still trying to find God, just like the rest of his followers.
