After Murdering Wife, Man Stabs Kids To Death Because He Didnt Have Car SeatsJAMAICA QUEENS, NY – No car seat…no problemo! After brutally stabbing his wife to death, 28-year-old Miguel Mejia-Ramos stabbed his two young daughters because he didn’t have car seats to take them with him on his way to Mexico.

Mejia-Ramos appeared in court Friday and was charged with six counts of first-degree murder and faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted. No bail was granted and Mejia-Ramos was placed on suicide watch following court.

Authorities said that, on January 19th, Mejia-Ramos got off work at 6 p.m. and spent the evening drinking beer at a friends house. He arrived home around 11 p.m. and brutally murdered his wife, 21-year-old Deisy Garcia, after he checked his wife’s phone and Facebook account (ohhh that pesky Facebook), and flew into a rage when he discovered a photo of his wife with another man.

District Attorney Richard Brown said Mejia-Ramos then chased his wife and stabbed her with a knife retrieved from the butcher’s block in the kitchen. He then proceeded to stab 1-year-old Yoselin Meija and 2-year-old Daniela Meija while they still slept in their beds.

“I was going to take them with me,” Mejia-Ramos was quoted as saying. “But I didn’t have car seats.”

According to police, as many as five bloody knives were found in two different rooms. Mejia-Ramos tried to kill himself after brutally murdering his family, but ultimately decided that 3 murders were good enough for the day. He was captured in Schulenburg, Texas, mere hours from the Mexican border, at a police roadblock on January 20th. His capture was possible because the dumbass turned his cellphone on (probably to check his Facebook). He gave himself up without incident.

Interestingly enough, when questioned by authorities after capture, he relayed that he drew on information he learned from a Discovery Channel program entitled, “I (Almost) Got Away With It,” to plan his escape. He said he knew that he would need money to make his escape possible so he ransacked his dead wife’s purse and took $240.

Mejia-Ramos is an undocumented immigrant who arrived in the U.S. in 2005. There have been several domestic violence calls that police have responded to in the past but no arrests were ever made. Also, on July 19, 2010, Mejia-Ramos was pulled over for a traffic infraction by the New York State Police and was subsequently turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

ICE began the process of deporting Mejia-Ramos, but in April of 2013, his case was closed because guidelines put forth by the Obama administration in 2011 directed the agency to “focus on deportation cases involving those convicted of serious crimes”. His daughters, who were both American citizens, were also a factor taken into account.
