KNOXVILLE, TN – A woman wanted for the attempted murder of her mother was arrested after she walked up to a news crew and admitted on camera that she tried to stab her mother to death because her mother was the antichrist and the leader of a satanic cult.
Laurie Nichols told authorities that her daughter, 31-year-old Katie Nichols, busted into her room around 3:40am Tuesday, put a sock in her mouth and told her to eat it. Nichols then tied her mom up and strangled her until she lost consciousness before stabbing her once in the chest with a small kitchen knife, once in the abdomen with a large kitchen knife, and once in the neck with a pair of scissors.
Neighbors called police after hearing Laurie’s screams, but by time they arrived Katie had fled the scene with her young daughter. Laurie was rushed to U.T. Medical Center, where she had surgery and is recovering in ICU.
A news crew went out to the apartment complex and were in the middle of interviewing a neighbor who knew the mother and daughter. Just as the neighbor was explaining Katie suffered from mental illness, Katie pulled up with her daughter.
Katie then calmly walked up to the news crew and explained to reporter Hilary Magacs that she tried to kill her mother because her mother was the antichrist and a Satanic cult ringleader. The stabbing was in self-defense, explained Katie, as her mother was casting spells on her and her daughter in an attempt to kill them both. She had figured out who her mother was after interpreting the signs on her mother’s knick-knacks that decorated her apartment.
‘I had to kill her. She was going to kill both of us. She was so powerful, I had no idea. I had no idea that my mother was that powerful,’ Nichols said.
Magacs called police to inform them that Katie was on the scene, and they arrived and took her into custody without incident. She’s been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping. The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services has placed Nichols’ daughter with another relative.
Here’s what I find fascinating about crimes like this — Katie truly believes she did the right thing. Her brain has fucked her royally and has her 100 percent convinced that by stabbing her mother she’s saved herself and her daughter from fatal magic spells, along with a large section of the population who would’ve died from nuclear explosions. How is justice or punishment achieved in cases like this?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… I say you send someone like this to a psychiatric facility where they get the help they need and eventually realize what they’ve done.
